What it is

Fresh rainbow trout oil in softgel format. Each softgel contains a measured dose of trout-derived omega-3, including naturally occurring EPA and DHA. Capsule shell is gelatin (not vegan). Bottled in protective glass.

Why softgels vs the liquid

The liquid format is the most natural and gives flexible dosing, but it has two drawbacks: you have to refrigerate it after opening, and some people don't love taking oil off a spoon. Softgels solve both. They travel well, you can take them anywhere, the dose is consistent, and there's no aftertaste.

The oil inside is the same fresh, single-species, traceable trout oil that Viridian put in the 200ml bottle. The softgel just makes it easier to take daily without the routine getting in the way.

Why this oil specifically

Most fish oil capsules on the average pharmacy shelf are mass-blended from a mixture of species, processed heavily to remove impurities, stabilised with synthetic vitamin E, and standardised to hit a marketing number. Viridian's approach with the trout oil is the opposite: single species, traceable, minimal processing, fresh pressing.

Omega-3 fatty acids contribute to normal heart function (where qualifying EPA and DHA intake is met from the wider diet). That's an authorised nutrient claim and it's accurate. The EPA and DHA in this oil are in their natural matrix rather than concentrated to a synthetic ratio.
