Viridian Organic Spirulina 500mg (60 Capsules)
Viridian Organic Spirulina 500mg (60 Capsules)

£17.99

Spirulina is a blue-green algae that has been used as a food for hundreds of years across parts of Africa, Asia and Central America. It's roughly 60% plant protein by dry weight, it's packed with B vitamins, iron and trace minerals, and it's one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet by volume.

Viridian's Organic Spirulina puts 500mg of clean, organic algae in each capsule, with no fillers, no synthetic carriers and no nonsense.

What it is

A 60-capsule bottle of organic spirulina, 500mg per capsule. Soil Association organic. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. No fillers, no flavourings.

Why nutrient-dense matters

Spirulina isn't a miracle food (no food is), but it's a useful daily routine addition for anyone whose diet isn't always the most varied. It contains:

  • Plant protein
  • B vitamins including B12 (though spirulina-derived B12 is debated for bioactivity, so plant-based eaters shouldn't rely on it as their sole source)
  • Iron (iron contributes to reduction of tiredness and fatigue and normal energy-yielding metabolism at significant intake)
  • Chlorophyll, carotenoids and other plant pigments

The actual contribution of any one nutrient depends on dose. At 500mg per capsule and one to several capsules a day, this is a daily routine top-up rather than a primary source of any single nutrient.

Who it suits

  • Vegans and vegetarians wanting a daily plant-protein and nutrient top-up
  • Active adults looking to add nutrient density to a busy routine
  • Anyone building a green-foods daily routine
  • Long-time Viridian users

If you have an iron-overload condition, an autoimmune condition, or you're on prescription medication, please check with your GP first.

Why Viridian

Viridian's spirulina is certified organic, the dose per capsule is stated clearly, and there's nothing in the bottle that doesn't belong. The brand has spent 20-plus years building its name in UK independent health shops on this kind of clean, transparent approach.

We stock the Viridian range in full at LSC because it's the brand customers ask for when they want a clean version of a green-food staple.

How to take it

Usual guidance is one to three capsules daily with food, or as directed by a practitioner. Start with one a day and build up if needed. 60 capsules at one a day is two months, less if you're taking more per day.

If you want a higher daily dose without taking lots of capsules, look at the Super Greens Powder which packs more green-food material per serving in powder form.

What pairs with it

Spirulina sits well alongside a daily mineral routine, a Vitamin D3 (especially October to March in the UK), and a quality plant oil. Browse the Botanicals & Adaptogens range and the Energy & Focus goal collection for what fits alongside.
