Viridian Homocysteine Support Complex (90 Capsules)
Viridian Homocysteine Support Complex (90 Capsules)

£22.99

Viridian's Homocysteine Support Complex is a focused formula built around the nutrients involved in normal homocysteine metabolism: B6, B12, folate, and supporting co-factors like betaine (trimethylglycine). A solid choice for adults thinking about cardiovascular and methylation support as part of their daily routine. 90 vegan capsules.

What it is

A targeted complex containing the active forms of the key methylation B vitamins:

  • Methylfolate (active folate / B9)
  • Methylcobalamin (active B12)
  • P5P or similar active form of B6 (depending on batch)
  • Betaine (trimethylglycine), a common methyl donor
  • Often paired with riboflavin (B2) as a supporting co-factor

Vegan capsule. Clean label. Made in the UK to Viridian's standard ethical brief.

Why it works

Homocysteine is an amino acid the body produces during normal protein metabolism. Healthy levels of B6, B12 and folate help the body convert homocysteine back into other useful amino acids through a process called methylation. If those nutrients are low, homocysteine can build up. That's a marker many practitioners look at as part of cardiovascular and general health screening.

Folate contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism. B6 contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism. B12 contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism. Those are three authorised nutrient claims that line up directly with what this complex is designed to support.

The active-form approach matters because a meaningful percentage of people carry genetic variants (MTHFR is the best known) that make converting folic acid into methylfolate less efficient. Skipping that step by using methylfolate directly is the cleaner route.

Who it's for

A targeted pick rather than a general daily complex. Suited to adults whose practitioner has flagged homocysteine on a blood panel. People with a known MTHFR variant who already know they want the methylated forms. Anyone over 50 wanting comprehensive B-vitamin support with the methylation angle covered.

If you don't know your levels, our LSC Bloods and Beyond service can measure homocysteine, B12, folate and related markers via a proper venous blood draw, so you can supplement based on real numbers.

What's different about this version

Viridian's homocysteine complex stands out for three reasons. First, the methylated forms across the board: methylfolate, methylcobalamin, active B6. Second, the inclusion of betaine as a methyl donor, which broadens the support beyond just the B vitamins. Third, the clean Viridian label: vegan, no fillers, no shellac glaze.

We've stocked Viridian for years. They're one of the brands we trust for honest, well-thought-out formulas at functional doses.

How to use it

One capsule a day with food, or as advised by your practitioner. Some practitioners prescribe two capsules daily for a short corrective period before dropping back to one. Don't double-dose without a reason.

If you're on prescribed medication (particularly nitrous oxide-related anaesthesia, methotrexate or certain anti-epileptics, all of which interact with folate and B12 metabolism), speak to your GP or pharmacist before starting.

Folate, B6 and B12 contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism.
