Organic Black Seed Oil, Cold-Pressed Egyptian Nigella sativa
Viridian Organic Black Seed Oil is a cold-pressed liquid oil made from Egyptian-sourced Nigella sativa seeds. It is one of the most-asked-for traditional oils on the shelf at the Paignton shop, and Viridian's version is the clean-label, organic-certified one we are happy to point people to.

What black seed oil is
Nigella sativa, also called black cumin or black seed, has been used in traditional routines across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia for centuries. Egypt is one of the classic growing regions. The oil is pressed from the seeds without heat (cold-pressed), which preserves more of the seed's natural plant compounds than a high-heat extraction would.
Viridian's version is certified organic and cold-pressed. That is the spec serious black seed oil users look for, because the cheap end of the market is often heat-extracted, refined, and stretched out with carrier oils.
Who it is for
- People already familiar with black seed oil and wanting a clean, certified version
- Adults adding a traditional oil to their daily routine
- Plant-based eaters who want a non-marine source of fatty oil
- Anyone wanting cold-pressed and organic rather than refined
What is different about it
Cold-pressed and organic, sourced from Egypt, in a clean-label bottle. That is the short version. Viridian have a long track record of doing the ethical sourcing work properly, which is why we stock them at the shop. Browse the wider Viridian range or the Omega & Oils collection for the full oils shelf.
How to use it
Take as directed on the label. Most people take it straight from a spoon, drizzle it on food after cooking (heat will degrade the cold-pressed compounds), or mix it into a smoothie. The taste is strong and a bit peppery. People either love it or take it with a chaser, there is rarely a middle ground.
Pair it with
Black seed oil sits naturally alongside the rest of the Omega & Oils range if you are building out a fatty-acid routine, or with the Botanicals & Adaptogens collection if you are leaning into traditional plant routines.
Storage
Cold-pressed oils are best kept somewhere cool and dark. Once opened, use within the timeframe stated on the label and reseal the cap properly between uses. Some customers prefer to keep it in the fridge after opening for a slightly longer shelf life.
